High intensity electromagnetic filters are designed for the separation of iron-bearing and weakly magnetic impurities in wet process applications. They are used to improve product purity in ceramic, porcelain, sanitaryware, clay, kaolin, feldspar, quartz, silica sand, glass raw material and various mineral suspension processes.
The electromagnetic filter concentrates the strong magnetic field generated by the coil system on a specially designed matrix. As liquid or slurry material passes through the matrix zone, fine iron-bearing and magnetically susceptible particles are captured. The adjustable magnetic field allows the separation process to be adapted to different product types, particle sizes and process conditions.
Electromagnetic filters are especially preferred for reducing fine and weakly magnetic impurities that are difficult to capture with conventional permanent magnetic systems. This helps reduce black spots, discoloration and iron-related quality problems in the final product.
These high-performance electromagnetic separators can be used in the following sectors and many more:
The outstanding technical features and advantages of these electromagnetic filters are as follows:
Electromagnetic filters allow process optimization for different product densities, flow rates and particle characteristics thanks to adjustable magnetic field strength. These systems help improve product quality, reduce iron-related quality problems and protect production equipment against metallic impurities.
Electromagnetic filters are an indispensable investment for businesses seeking to meet the highest purity standards in the industry, reduce operational costs, and achieve sustainable production goals. Thanks to their advanced technologies and flexible usage options, they revolutionize material processing.
Mıknatıs Ar-Ge electromagnetic filters are designed according to process capacity, product density, viscosity, particle size and targeted separation performance.
Industrial High Intensity Electromagnetic Filters (Wet High Gradient Magnetic Separators - WHGMS) are massive, pressure-rated vessels containing a specialized steel wool matrix. By energizing heavy external copper coils, a massive, highly uniform electromagnetic field (up to 20,000 Gauss) is induced through the matrix to capture microscopic, weakly magnetic (paramagnetic) particles from liquid slurries.
They are absolutely critical in the wet processing of high-grade kaolin clay (paper coating), ceramic glazes, sanitaryware slip, titanium dioxide purification, and advanced battery material (Lithium-ion) slurries, where even nano-scale iron/hematite contamination causes severe color or chemical defects.
Permanent magnets max out around 12,000 Gauss and cannot be turned off. Electromagnetic filters can be driven to extreme levels (15,000 to 20,000+ Gauss) by increasing the DC voltage. More importantly, when the matrix is full of microscopic sludge, the electromagnet is turned OFF (Zero Gauss), allowing the sludge to be instantly flushed out with a high-pressure water backwash.
The pressure vessel is packed with a proprietary matrix (usually expanded metal mesh or specialized magnetic steel wool). When the magnetic field is applied, thousands of sharp points on the steel wool act as flux concentrators, creating millions of localized High-Gradient micro-magnetic fields that trap sub-micron (nano-scale) paramagnetic particles passing through the slurry.
Yes, for continuous B2B production, these are fully automated. Controlled by a central PLC, the system automatically halts the product feed, de-energizes the magnet, opens the pneumatic drain valves, and blasts high-pressure water (and sometimes compressed air) through the matrix, completely purging the iron waste before resuming filtration.
Absolutely. The main pressure vessel, internal piping, and matrix are manufactured from highly corrosion-resistant AISI 316L (or special duplex) stainless steels. The heavy external copper coils are oil-cooled or water-cooled to manage the intense heat generated during 24/7 continuous duty cycles.
Yes, we provide advanced B2B engineering. Depending on your slurry viscosity, solids content (%), and volumetric flow (m³/h), we design the specific vessel diameter, matrix density, coil winding, and power supply (Rectifier Cabinet) to guarantee your targeted final product brightness/purity.
